How to set your position

The Use map button brings up a standard Google map. Drag it around until the crosshairs in the middle are over the location you want. Use the zoom control on the left to zoom in or out. The forecast updates as you drag the map around, and your location will be remembered for your next visit.

You can type in the latitude and longitude and then click the Show Forecast button, but who knows that?

typical forecast example

The middle of the forecast image is “now”, and the forecast time moves into the future as you look outwards both ways from the middle. At the left and right edges of the forecast image, you’re looking at two hours ahead.

Below is a speeded up view of what a storm looks like as it moves in over the course of two hours. As the blue reaches the middle, light to moderate precipitation will begin. When yellow reaches the middle, the precipitaton will become more intense. Finally the storm moves off and the image changes back to all green, meaning no more precipitation expected for at least two hours.
